1987 Diamond Back Arrival

Home Up

The Diamond Back Arrival was one of the bikes that changed how mountain bikes were sold.  This bike was very heavily advertised and combined the new Shimano Deore XT index components with an aluminum frame at a fairly reasonable price.  As bikes like this popped up (along with Treks, Raleighs, GTs...), the custom bikes were getting harder to sell.  Here you could get an aluminum frame with top components for less money than you would pay for a custom steel frame.  Nothing too unusual about these bikes so not too many extra pictures of this one.  The stays look to have been welded to the frame and then cut to allow for the closing of the seat binder, kinda unusual looking.
